What am I looking for exactly? I've noticed a few EE when using the nVidia driver about a screen directive being deleted (but no nf exists for me to check anything): My main problem is that I really don't know what exactly is failing, I'm not sure if I installed a package that shouldn't be there, or if the combination of the kernel and the nVidia drivers is bad. Well if I make nVidia inactive and restart lightdm it works. The adapter are switched by making one inactive apparently. In `/etc/X11/nf` there are two layouts defined, one using a screen on nVidia and the other one using another screen on Intel. Nothing worked.īut right now I've noticed something. I have tried many things, including trying with a 367, 375, 378 version, trying from the graphics/ppa repo, tried also the nVidia official installer. Both were running the proprietary driver fine (And I was able to switch between the Intel adapter and the nVidia one using the "nVidia Settings" application), but since recently (Kernel update?) the nVidia driver is not working anymore.Īfter seleting my flavor using Grub, the system boots (I see the services starting etc), but lightdm doesn't display, and I see a black screen with a non-blinking cursor on the top left. I have two computers, one with a nVidia 970 and the other one with a 940. I've been trying a lot of things from online resource, no luck so far. This is a weird issue, really not related to XFCE, but I am hopping for some nice folks here to have ideas.
